Integrating Case Management for Vulnerable Children

A process guide for assessing and developing an integrated case management system in Eastern and Southern Africa. 

A case management system is the set of coordinated components and structures that connect to each other in order to support and protect the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children and families. These components include legal and policy frameworks, implementation structures and roles, resources, workforce capacity, programmes and services, and data management, monitoring and evaluation.

For case management to work it needs to be integrated at all levels, from the actions taken by children, families and communities to policies and legal frameworks at the national level. This guide developed by UNICEF and Maestral, focuses on what is needed for integration to work and is aimed at policy makers and program managers working across Eastern and Southern Africa.
